Ruins of the Basilica of St. Pachomius, in the village of Faw Qibli, 4 miles from where the codices were discovered (Jebal al-Tarif can be seen in the hazy background). Archaeologists found jars of the type used for burial of the codices (pictured earlier) during the excavation. Cartonnage used in construction of some of the covers indicate they may have been manufactured in the ancient Pachomian monasteries of the region.
